A Guide to Clayton NC

Clayton is located in Johnston County, North Carolina, and is known as a small satellite community of Raleigh. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the state and has a population of nearly 20,000. The city is on the west coast of the great state of North Carolina and has the distinction of being a popular destination for out-of-town visitors, as well as the residents that live in the surrounding area. In the last census, Clayton’s population had reached 17,890, with an increase of 5% over the last few years. By the end of 2020, the total population of Clayton will be about 24,000.

If you are looking to buy a home in Clayton, you should consider checking into homes near the downtown area. Many of the new and older subdivisions are built on large lots surrounded by large trees. Most of the houses on these lots have plenty of room to get around and park. There are also several large parks within the city, including a small zoo, tennis and golf facilities, as well as public libraries and recreation centers. There are also tennis courts, bowling alleys, playgrounds, and shopping malls for those interested in local shopping.

One good thing about living in Clayton is that it has a large number of schools nearby. There are many schools that can provide you with a good education, regardless of your family’s needs. Clayton homes are also available on the outskirts of town, which means that those in search of more rural living can easily find a home close to their favorite shopping and entertainment venues. Even if you want to stay in Clayton to enjoy its beautiful beaches and beautiful scenery, you may want to consider investing in a home near the downtown area.

Plumbing problems are not an easy to tackle. It has been seen that most people invest their money in an emergency plumber who isn’t even qualified, don’t provide proper service and in result charge entire day rate for less than half hour work. But in case if the scenario is opposite where you have hired a professional but he doesn’t seem to fix things or takes so much time before finishing up the job then better opt for video inspection along with traditional method of pipe and drain cleaning.

A Guide to Charlotte

Charlotte is now a major business and major cultural hub in North Carolina. Its urban downtown area (Uptown) boasts the prestigious Levine Museum of the South, which covers the past histories of post-Civil War period in the south, and the Discovery Place, a museum that showcases the history of NASCAR in North Carolina. Uptown also is home for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, a historic museum that celebrates the sport of motor racing in this state. The North Carolina Museum of History is another place to visit when in Charlotte. Other great places to visit are the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, a world-class orchestra that gives performances around the country, and the Duke Energy Center for the Arts, a wonderful museum showcasing the diversity of Charlotte.

While you’re in Charlotte, you can see the great art galleries, including the Charlotte Museum of Art. You’ll also get to experience a variety of museums and festivals, such as the Charlotte Pride Festival, a parade that takes place on the first Saturday of June each year. Another event to watch out for is the “Carolina Film Festival.” This is held every August, so you’ll find plenty of movies to watch.

During the month of June, Charlotte hosts the famous Charlotte Motorcycle Expo, which has been taking place since 1931, when it was the only state fair in America that was exclusively dedicated to motorcycle enthusiasts. The Charlotte Motorcycle Industry Association even organizes the annual International Charlotte Motorcycle Show in October. The Charlotte Motorcycle Festival, also known as the CMA, is actually considering the largest gathering of its kind in the country.

Built in 1917 by Katharine Smith Reynolds and her husband R. J. Reynolds, founder of the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the house originally occupied the center of a 1,067-acre (4.32 km2) estate. It opened to the public as an institution dedicated to the arts and education in 1965, and as an art museum in 1967. The house holds one of the country’s finest collections of American paintings. The show stems from a series of workshops funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and inaugurated at Reynolda House in 2007 with additional workshops held in 2010 and 2012. This presentation includes work by artists working before World War I who created individual images or portfolios on contemporary social issues or subjects related to their own lives, as well as artists working in the international avant-garde style of Dada and Surrealism.

The exhibition is organized thematically. The first section includes prints that celebrate graphic design specifically as art—including work by Aubrey Beardsley, Theodore R. Davis, Gustavo Bonevardi, Edmund Joseph Sullivan, Walter Crane and others—as well as artists who used the medium to hide messages in otherwise traditional images (the so-called “poster code” developed during World War I). It also features prints made by major American printmakers living abroad including William Manker Strong, Charles Shannon, Albert Sterner and Jessie Willcox Smith whose work often addressed the modern urban environment they found themselves inhabiting overseas.

Design and construction began in 1912 and lasted until the end of 1917. Charles Barton Keen, who had gained notable success designing homes in Pennsylvania and New York, was the architect of not only the main house, but also the village that included a church, stables, and a school, on the estate. Katharine Reynolds was very involved with the design of Reynolda, and some of her correspondences with Keen survive. The family finally moved in December 1917, but R. J. Reynolds was ill with pancreatic cancer and was not able to enjoy his new home. He died July 29, 1918.[2]

Reynolda was the home of two generations of the Reynolds family. In 1935, Mary Reynolds Babcock, the elder daughter, acquired the estate. She and her husband Charles Babcock used the house as their vacation home until 1948, at which time they moved permanently to Reynolda. The property remained in the family for nearly 50 years. The museum has restored interior rooms and furnishings to reflect the periods when the family lived there. Reynolda became affiliated with Wake Forest Universityin 2002.[3]

Bethabara Historic District near Winston Salem encompasses the surviving buildings and archaeological remains of a small Moravian community, that was first settled in 1753. Located in present-day Forsyth County, North Carolina, it is now a public park of the city of Winston-Salem. It was designated National Historic Landmark in 1999.

Bethabara (from the Hebrew, meaning “House of Passage” and pronounced beth-ab-bra, the name of the traditional site of the Baptism of Jesus Christ) was a village located in what is now Forsyth County, North Carolina. It was the site where twelve men from the Moravian Church first settled in 1753 in an abandoned cabin in the 100,000-acre (400 km2) tract of land the church had purchased from Lord Granville and dubbed Wachovia.

Its early settlers were noted for advanced agricultural practices, especially their medicine Garden, which produced over fifty kinds of herbs.

Bethabara Historic District is an area in Forsyth County, North Carolina. It is located at the northern end of Bethabara Park and contains a collection of 18th and 19th century structures. From 1753 to 1762, Moravians of German descent lived in the town of Bethabara (pronounced “Beh-tha-bahra”), which means house (Beth) of passage (abar). The industrious Moravians developed mills, forges, farms and roads; established schools; built churches; printed Bibles; developed medicines; planted orchards; distilled alcoholic beverages; made shoes, clothes and wagons; produced furniture, musical instruments and tools; wrote music and books (including early geological surveys); taught artisans skills needed to build and maintain their own community; experimented with crop development, including the growing of medicinal plants for sale to the local apothecary; counseled troubled souls; and baptized over 1,000 new converts.

The people were skilled in the arts, crafts and sciences. They constructed their own buildings; made their own shoes, clothes and wagons; farmed the land using advanced farming methods for that time period; distilled alcohols for various purposes including medicinal ones; worked with wood-working tools to construct furniture, etc.; formed iron works to produce nails, pots/pans, cauldrons, chains, axes, hoes, plows and other items needed by them but which they could not afford to purchase because of lack of money or trade possibilities or both. And many aspects of this town’s history are preserved today throughout Bethabara Park.

Bethabara was never meant to be a permanent settlement. It was intended to house the Moravians until a more suitable location for a central village could be found. Just six months after arriving in Wachovia, the Seven Years War (known as the French and Indian War in America) began in western Pennsylvania. The violence quickly spread to southwestern Virginia and western North Carolina. Bethabara hosted a large number of refugees until 1761. The establishment of a central town was delayed for thirteen years because of the growing Moravian population and hundreds of refugees.

Once it was felt safe to do so in 1766, the central town, Salem was begun. Many of the buildings in Bethabara were dismantled, and used for the new structures in Salem. As the houses were taken down, the small rootcellars were pushed in and filled.

With Salem completed in 1771, the official seat of government was transferred from Bethabara to Salem. Only a few residents remained behind. Bethabara became a farming community which supplied food to the other Moravians towns in Wachovia.

In 1788, a slave, Johann Samuel, was made superintendent of the farm. He was freed in 1801, after 50 years of servitude to To the Moravians. Bethabara continued to decline. The principal industries were farming and pottery, well into the 1850’s.

City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, its Mayor and Council Members, would like to welcome everyone to our website. We hope you find it a useful tool in learning about the city’s rich history and culture while also finding specific information about activities and events taking place within our community today.

The city is named for John M. Winston , former North Carolina legislator and a prominent Confederate Brigadier General during the Civil War , and Salem because of Salem College, which was established here in 1852 . The sister institution of the college was the Moravian Church located at Old Salem near beer brewery . In addition to his work on behalf of public education in Forsyth County , Winston was an active Freemason who served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina in 1886-1887 .

The city’s history dates back to 1766 , when Jonathan Riggs built a grist mill on property near Old Salem. A cluster of buildings gradually developed around the Moravian settlement, which was first called Wachovia Toreadors Chuliokeelty. In 1852, Salem College was established by Lutheran pastors Benjamin Kurtz and Louis Stroup, with other German Lutherans who immigrated to the area from abroad. The college was originally located in an old colonial home, but moved into its own building in 1856 that still stands today as the Administration Building at Old Salem Museums & Gardens .

The city was officially chartered on March 6, 1874. Winston-Salem grew rapidly in the 1890s and nearly doubled in size each decade up through 1930 .

Winston-Salem is called the “Twin City” for its dual heritage and “City of the Arts and Innovation” for its dedication to fine arts and theater and technological research. “Camel City” is a reference to the city’s historic involvement in the tobacco industry related to locally based <a title="R. Many locals refer to the city as “Winston” in informal speech. Another nickname, “the Dash,” comes from the dash in the city’s name (although technically it is a hyphen[<span title="This claim needs references to reliable sources.
Is called the twin city, for its Dual Heritage and its history. You will hear the citizens of Winston Salem say, We are a City with Values and we have a Heritage to match those values!

The Real Reason for this dual city is not what you think it is.

When you look at a map of Forsyth county, you will see the City of Winston Salem surrounded by a horseshoe shaped body of water called “Boone Lake.” The lake was formed from the New River as it meanders through that area. If you study the map closely, there appears to be two branches that form Boone Lake. One runs North to South and intersects with another North-South branch that forms Boone Lake which goes East/West at one point. These two creeks meet at a place called Ironwood. The two waterways bears a striking resemblance to a uterus and vagina with Boone Lake as the Uterus and the two creeks as the Vagina – surrounding Winston Salem.

It’s no coincidence that Boone Lake is at this location, where it also intersects with two major highways going East West and North South. The symbol of womanhood surrounded by powerful transportation links mirrors why Winston Salem was named after 7 th day adventist preacher Jonathan Swift Winstun as his ministry was to bring people from all over together in religious harmony at a place called Bethabara which means House of Passage, or Doorway to God! And if you have been reading my articles you might know the significance of 7 beyond religion.

The significance of this place is so powerful, that you can see it vividly on Google Earth! If you type in “Ironwood Winston Salem” at the satellite map you will see how it forms a uterus and vagina shape over the City of Winston Salem. The reason Giant Oak trees were planted around Boone lake was to symbolize womanhood as you will learn from reading my article on Joshua’s curse .

Boone Lake not only surrounds Winston Salem like the walls of Jericho, but also has two entrances into that uterine city (Vagina) – one North and one South giving this City its primary Biblical symbolism of Womanhood.

In 2012, the city was listed among the ten best places to retire in the United State by CBS MoneyWatch.[6] Winston-Salem has seen a surge in growth and revitalization in the downtown area with hotels, restaurants, and apartments under constrution. In 2017, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal ranked the city second in their lists of the most livable downtowns in America. Winston-Salem tied with Charlotte for the highest growth in small business. WalletHub ranked Winston-Salem the third most affordable large city to start a small business.

Greensboro, like much of the southeastern United States, has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa), with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with a daily average in July of 78.5 °F (25.8 °C). There is an average 32 days per year with highs at or above 90 °F (32 °C), but, as in much of the Piedmont South, 100 °F (38 °C)+ readings are uncommon.[40] Autumn is similar to spring in temperature but has fewer days of rainfall and less total rainfall. Extremes in temperature have ranged from −8 °F (−22 °C) on January 21, 1985, up to 104 °F (40 °C), on July 17, 1914.

Greenboro has a humid subtropical climate, typical for its latitude. It is characterized by four distinct seasons and high humidity year round. The area’s position on the Appalachian Mountains also contributes to some occasional cold winter air descending from the north, but Greenboro is generally milder than many other cities located at similar latitudes in the US. Hurricanes are rare due to the city’s location away from the Atlantic coastline and additionally out of the path of hurricanes traversing up either coast. The Appalachian Mountains also help protect Greenboro from potential cold air outbreaks from Canada, which contribute to the city’s moderately cool fall temperatures. Summers are hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. The daily average temperature in July is 81.7 °F (27.6 °C), with high temperatures reaching 90-100 °F (32-38 °C) approximately 43 days out of the year; however, partially due to the significant elevation changes in the area, morning relative humidity levels mean that actual ‘feels like’ temperatures are usually 10–15 degrees cooler than the reported temperature. On average, Greenboro receives about 46 inches (1143 mm) of precipitation per year; snowfall averages 3–4 inches (8 cm).

Greenboro’s lowest recorded temperature is 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 degrees Celsius), on January 21, 1985. Greenboro’s highest recorded temperature was 106 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius), on July 21, 1983.

The average number of days with any measurable precipitation is 85. On average, there are 212 sunny days per year in Greenboro. The July high averages around 86% possible sunshine while the December low sees about 33% possible sunshine. Greenboro lies within USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a or Sunset zone 4.

Thunderstorms are common during the humid spring and summer months, some being severe. On April 2, 1936, at around 7:00 pm, a large, F-4 tornado cut a seven-mile (11 km) swath of destruction through southern Greensboro. 14 people were killed and 144 were injured from the tornado, which moved through part of downtown. The storm was part of an outbreak known as the 1936 Cordele-Greensboro tornado outbreak. Strong tornadoes have struck the Greensboro area since then, notably Stoneville on March 20, 1998; Clemmons and Winston-Salem on May 5, 1989; Clemmons and Greensboro on May 7, 2008; High Point on March 28, 2010; and Greensboro on April 15, 2018.

The redevelopment of the downtown was stimulated by the 2006 opening of the Elon University School of Law. The law school is credited with attracting student dollars to the downtown both day and night.[32]

Many people dream of living in downtown Greensboro, yet there is little available at market rates. Though affordable housing projects have popped up around downtown, they often require subsidies or tax credits to be financially accessible for lower income individuals or families. With most new development occurring on the outskirts of town (especially in West Greensboro), many wonder when we will see a transformation like that which occurred in historic Fourth Ward (downtown). The answer: TOD (Transit Oriented Development). We can Elon Musk and his Hyperloop proposal (while still longing for high speed rail), but Elon is far off the radar. TODs are closer than you think, and they may be coming to Greensboro sooner than anyone expects!

There are several TODs which could occur throughout North Carolina, but this post will focus on one near (or within) Greensboro city limits. The proposed site of the project is north of downtown Greensboro, where the Norfolk-Southern Railroad divides. Norfolk has long left their railyard in northern Greensboro behind; however, there was also much industry along Washington St/US 29 which made its home near the railroad tracks. This proposal involves reusing portions of these old warehouses as well converting other nearby buildings into retail/residential/office space.

The plan involves using properties within the block bounded by Washington, Academy, Broad and Lewis Streets. As seen below, this would create a street grid which looks much like downtown Greensboro did when it was first planned in 1795 (the city’s namesake).

In 1808, “Greensborough” (the spelling before 1895) was planned around a central courthouse square to succeed Guilford Court House as the county seat. The county courts were thus placed closer to the geographical center of the county, a location more easily reached at the time by the majority of the county’s citizens, who depended on horse and foot for travel.

The city says at least two unsuspecting renters have been bilked out of money by criminals who were posing as legitimate landlords, promising to rent their available homes and then requesting first month’s rent and security deposits in the form of iTunes cards or Green Dot prepaid debit cards.

The fraudulent ads include real properties that are no longer for rent and/or do not exist: 2311 Norwich Court, 12082 Oak Meadow Drive, 1504 Westfield Road among others. Once the victim sends the requested payment using an iTunes card or another form of prepaid debit card, the suspect/s disappear, and they cannot be reached by phone or email.

“Consumers should realize that no landlord is going to request payment via an iTunes card or other type of gift card,” said Officer David Blanton with the Greensboro Police Department’s Fraud Unit. “The use of these cards makes it almost impossible to trace where the money went.” The following items have been reported stolen from victims.

In 2003, the previous Greensboro – Winston-Salem – High Point metropolitan statistical area (MSA) was re-defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. This region was separated into the Greensboro–High Point MSA and the Winston-Salem MSA. The 2010 population for the Greensboro–High Point MSA was 723,801. The combined statistical area (CSA) of Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point, popularly referred to as the Piedmont Triad, had a population of 1,599,477.

Among Greensboro’s many notable attractions, some of the most popular include the Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe water park, the Greensboro Science Center, the International Civil Rights Museum, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, the Greensboro Symphony, the Greensboro Ballet, Triad Stage, the Wyndham Golf Championship, the headquarters of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex which hosts various sporting events, concerts, and other events, the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic Baseball League, the Carolina Dynamo of the Premier Development Soccer League, the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League, the Greensboro Roller Derby, and the National Folk Festival.
