Winston Salem is a large city located in and around the county seat of Wilson County, North Carolina. With a 2009 estimated population of 248,735 it is second in population to the City of Raleigh and is second only to Charlotte as the largest city in Forsyth County. The City of Winston Salem also hosts large numbers of visitors every year and has a large number of major sporting events.
Winston Salem has an International Airport and it serves as the hub of all transportation within the area. It is an excellent place to work if you choose to because there is so much employment in the area. The population has grown in recent years and the City of Winston Salem has added a number of high-rise buildings in recent years. Many major corporations also have their headquarters in Winston Salem, including AT&T, and it is one of the most business-friendly cities in North Carolina. It is home to one of the largest banks in the state, the Wachovia Bank and it also serves as the headquarters of Duke Energy.
