Holly Springs North Carolina is a resort community in Wake County, North Carolina. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the total population of the town was 23,766, nearly 2½ times the number in 1900. The town was first built around the beautiful fresh water spring where it’s said to be named after. The spring was drained and became the source of the city’s water supply. After the spring was depleted, it was replaced by the Wanda Spring, which is the largest natural body of water in the United States. Today, it is considered one of the most important sources of drinking water in the area.
Holly Springs boasts a variety of attractions for visitors. One of these is the historic City Creek. It is part of an eleven-mile historic trail and provides hikers with some of the best views of Wake Forest. On the banks of the creek, you will find a small park that contains a small bridge and a fountain. Other attractions in the area include the National History Center, The City Water Park, The Rock House, and a beautiful stately home, the City Palace. The City Palace, located on the main street of the area, is an elegant 19th century building that overlooks the creek.
